About the Artist

Empty nesting brought a new chapter for Sharmila Ghosh, and with it, an unexpected passion. Clay filled the void left behind, becoming a source of creation and fulfillment in a way she never anticipated. There's something deeply grounding about the process for her, transforming a lump of clay into a piece that will find its way into someone's everyday life.

Sharmila finds beauty in the everyday, and her goal is to create functional pottery that turns the ordinary into something special. Each piece starts on the wheel, and lately she's been drawn to combining wheel throwing with hand-building techniques, adding texture, handles, and details that give the work a bit more character. She loves experimenting with glazes, too, and how color and surface shift depending on form and firing.

Every piece is made to be used, not just admired. Her hope is that it brings a little more beauty into your daily routine: your morning tea, your dinner table, the small rituals that make up a day.
