Today’s tea break from traveling features a lovely cup of Phyllis Earl Grey from Brook37, perfectly paired with buttery shortbread fingers from Highgrove.

I made it both hot and cold. Hot Brew: The brew is clear and light brown/orange in color. It is light in body and astringency. The bergamot (Early Grey flavor) is complemented with floral and fruit flavors. Cold Brew: It has a clear yellow coloring. The fruit flavors were more predominate with a hint of licorice root on the finish. It was light and refreshing. I could imagine myself enjoying it on a hot summer day. Overall, it was a really nice tea. It is probably a tea I would reach more for when the weather is nicer and I'm looking for a lighter tea.

As an Earl Grey lover, I was impressed by how seamlessly the unique ingredients harmonize. Versatility: Lovely on its own, it also adapts well to additions. Very different from your standard Earl Grey, but a very enjoyable brew. I can detect just a hint of a citrus fragrance, but I can definitely smell the lavender and pineapple. The flavor is excellent! It’s very clean and crisp. Not overly floral from the lavender and although I don’t care for licorice root, I didn’t even notice it. There’s a light, fruity sweetness from the pineapple, but it doesn’t interfere with the other flavors. All in all, it’s reality an amazing blend. Aroma and flavor are top notch and you can definitely see the larger tea leaves.
